Cinematographer, director and producer Kyle Sandilands works across documentary film and television. He has filmed projects around the world, from Canada, Nepal and Vietnam to Tanzania, Ecuador and Cambodia, and is currently based in Brisbane, Australia.
One of his major credits is Jereme Watt’s feature documentary Everest Dark, on which he served as director of photography and associate producer. The film had its world premiere at CPH:DOX in 2025 and received awards at the Planet in Focus International Environmental Film Festival and the New Zealand Mountain Film Festival. Sandilands was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Cinematography in a Feature-Length Documentary.

He has also directed, filmed and edited short documentary projects for UNICEF in Cambodia and the PATA Foundation in Vietnam.
His professional approach is rooted in direct observation and working with small, highly mobile crews. Experienced in filming independently in unpredictable and extreme environments, Sandilands combines cinematography, directing, producing, aerial filming and editing to create expressive visual narratives within the uncertainty of real life.
