ABOUT

Filmmaker Tomas Ponsteen was adopted from Brazil and does not feel the need to search for his biological mother. Since revelations about adoption abuses, he wonders to what extent his choice not to search is without obligation. Is it a moral duty of every adoptee to search his or her biological mother?

DIRECTOR

TOMAS PONSTEEN

Studied Documentary Directing at the Netherlands film Academy in Amsterdam and graduated in 2022. He was selected for an intensive development program IDFA Project Space. In 2024 his documentary Filho was published by The New Yorker Magazine. Tomas Ponsteen’s films have been screened at numerous world festivals, including Festival de Cortometrajes de México 2023, Filmfest Munich 2023, BlackStar Film Festival Philadelphia 2023, Festival Internacional de Escuelas de Cine 2023, etc.
